Fireti Omega Minimalist Wallet
Every had anyone compliment your wallet? I hadn’t either till I got my Fireti Omega Wallet. It’s obviously a little different – definitely not your standard tri-fold or bi-fold leather wallet. The omega wallet is a minimalist wallet. It offers everything you need and nothing you don’t. These days we keep photos on our phones not in our wallets, and most of our purchase are done with debit and credit cards. Because of the Omega wallet’s metal construction it help keeps your RFID data secure. If your unfamiliar with RFID data and how accessible it is, you ought to do a little Googling. Did I mention it also opens bottles?
I think most people assume that a wallet made of metal would be the most uncomfortable thing you could ever carry in your back pocket. On the contrary, the Omega wallet is lighter and smaller in all dimensions compared to a standard wallet. The wallet is essentially the size of a credit card, and it’s thickness depends on how much you have in it. I keep 9-10 cards in mine making it about ½” thick. My old leather wallet is thicker than that when it’s empty. The Omega wallet isn’t just for cards; cash can be folded and carried inside the wallet just as easily as a credit card.
As far as durability is concerned, I’ve replaced all of the o-rings once since I’ve had it, so I’d give them a year lifespan. The wallet comes with 2 extra sets when you order and replacements are available on Fireti’s website. You should be able to find them at just about any hardware store if you want to go the cheap route.
Here’s a video from the Kickstarter campaign that explains how the wallet works.
The minimalist style wallet may not be everyone’s cup of tea. But if you’re a gear junky like myself and you’re looking something not everyone has in their back pocket, you may want to try one out. There are plenty of other minimal wallet designs out there as well, some are admittedly cooler looking than mine. There are even leather variations if you want to keep with the traditional wallet look, and want something less ridged in your pocket.
The Fireti wallet is available, and has increased in price a little bit, but with the added options, like o-ring colors and custom text engraving on each wallet plate. Personally I’d stick with the aluminum plates due to cost, but if you want something fancy the anodized titanium options offer lots of cool combinations. Check out myfireti.com for all their options.
